Don’t Shrink Back!

March 5, 2012

Greetings,

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.  For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay.  But my righteous one will live by faith.  And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.”  But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.”  Hebrews 10: 35-39

Confidence in Jesus is a very important thing to have.  If we believe in and trust Him, He will carry us through any circumstance.  We can and will persevere if we hold on to the truth, and love, that He has revealed to us.  This is not about self confidence or self perseverance.  It is all about Him and what He has promised.  If we hold on to Him through the trials of this life, we will overcome all obstacles and be rewarded by Him in the next life.  Jesus is returning to this earth very soon, but when He does will He find us faithful?

So please hang on to Jesus, sisters and brothers, and He will see us through all the way to the end.  Do not fear or shrink back from current circumstances my friends.  Because He will make right all things and keep our feet on the correct path.  If we remain in Him and do not turn away we will not be destroyed.  Through our sincere belief in only Jesus; we will be saved.

We can live in victory in the here and now.  We do not have to wait for His return to be overcomer’s.  Although some have given up in this life and only look to the future now.  2 Peter 1: 3-4 tells us that, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.  Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

So the question is…. are you going to be a Participant or just a Spectator?  We can all walk in The Spirit now and participate in Him or we can sit on the sidelines as a mere spectator and wait for the end of this age to come.  Problem is that much of the modern church has programmed its members to sit and watch a Sunday morning show.  When it is totally clear that He wants us to participate and share His truth in love with each other and others along the way in this life.  Being IN Him means we will be like Him, and Jesus was very vocal and open in sharing truth and love with all those He encountered.  Please don’t shrink back from your calling to BE someone who shares their portion in Christ with others.    In the end we will be with Him, but you don’t have to wait until then to experience His presence and share it with others each and every day.

Love and …..

I totally have enjoyed the last couple blogs. (Just haven’t had time to comment). I do think it’s so vital that we participate fully. I was thinking about it, and the Dead Sea is the saltiest and so full of brine…why? It has a steady infilling of new water. It’s because it has no output. The Dead Sea is constantly being fed but has no outlet. I think that is how we can become. We can choose to be so fed, that in essence we become too “salty” and end up killing what comes into contact with us. It take both input and output to keep us healthy.
    THanks for the post Chris.

  2. Good analogy Pam. Thanks for sharing!

If you sit around all the time you get lazy and out of shape, and the days drag on forever. Better to go out and exercise so that you feel your best and the time flies by. Same with our faith, you must practice to be perfect. None of us will ever be perfect, but by going out and practicing what he has told us, we feel better and the time will fly right by!
We have to remember that it is easy to get knocked off the top of the peak and that is where our fellowship and sharing helps us stay at or on top.

Like what you have to say Pam. That is so true. Like any relationship there is a give and a take. There should always be a balance. With God it is no different.

I enjoyed the comment from all of you on this one.

I read this as don’t worry, hold on because He will come on the scene just like He promised.

A little more on His coming, because I believe our ‘overcoming’ is BECAUSE of His ‘coming’ or presence, not when it happens in the sense of traditional belief in a ‘2nd return’. (which I do realize is your point in this post so I’m agreeing, not disagreeing!)

In the verse that says ‘He that shall come, will come’ here is the definition of ‘come’ from the Greek in Strongs Concordance,

    1) to have come, have arrived, be present

    2) metaph. a) to come to one, i.e. to seek an intimacy with one, become his follower: to come upon one (unexpectedly)

    b) to come upon one, of things endured

It is a revealing of His PRESENCE. Very important to me….

    Great post, Chris, thanks, “BK”
