THE Great Shepherd

December 1, 2016
 Greetings,
“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.  Amen.”  Hebrews 13: 20-21
Flat out truth…. who is THE Shepherd of the sheep?  Only Jesus and no other man!  Who equips us with everything good for doing His will?  Only Jesus and no other man!  Jesus is The Shepherd and The One who equips us.  We don’t need a human Pastor, in fact many times they only get in HIS way.
Don’t get me wrong, many times The Lord uses another Christ follower to help bring us deeper into HIS Truth and Love.  He uses sisters and brothers in the faith to teach us all the time. However, The Holy Spirit is the great teacher and His anointing will teach us all we ever need and we can find and follow HIS Spirit in and through one another.  We have a direct connection to The Lord and we can hear directly from Him.  Primary revelation comes right from the Lord with no human filter.  However, many times our sibling peers can shed light on His truth and bring us much needed secondary revelation that builds on His truth, grace, mercy and love.
As I have said before here… I believe in true elders in the Body of Christ.  I also know that there are those in His Body who move in The Spirit as apostles, prophets, evangelists and pastor/teachers.  These gifted people are called to come alongside us and help us learn different facets of His Truth and Love, during different seasons of our lives.  No one, but Jesus is over and above us.  I also believe that EVERYONE in the Body of Christ is gifted by the Holy Spirit.  We best share these gifts with one another via deep meaningful conversation and dialogue.  Sermons and monologues are not the way that we can best learn and hear from The Christ found in one another.
We need one another in the Body of Christ.  We need for iron to sharpen iron.  Through ongoing conversations we help shape one another into who HE wants us to be.  I do not discount the gifts.  However, the modern traditional “church” has elevated the gifts to a place God never intended for them to be.  Man and satan want us to look UP to other “men”  Man and satan want us to place mere “men” over and above other men.  According to Jesus it is not supposed to be that way among us.  According to Jesus there is only one Leader/Teacher and we are all supposed to be equal sibling peers to one another.  When I say “men” I totally include women in all my statements because we are all equals and peers, regardless of gender, race, age, gifting or social class.
What a rant that was?  Just sharing what is on my heart and mind today  I deeply desire that everyone would be totally free from the shackles and bondage that dead religion brings. Freedom!   Jesus lived and died so that we could find it in this life as well as the next.  So please don’t give up until you find it in Christ and one another?
                    Love and…..

  1. Bro, you said, ” However, the modern traditional “church” has elevated the gifts to a place God never intended for them to be.” With all due respect, I never saw that when I was in Nicolaitanville…mostly, the gifts of the spirit were kept under lock and key, except with rare exceptions when the Holy Spirit would just bust out in spite of them. And then, His Holy power would flow in some very awesome and amazing ways.
I still long for that one on one real time relationship with my brethren after the pattern that our Lord established in the primitive church. I know you are blessed with these on a regular basis, and I am so jealous :). I really am.

    • Scarlett to be clear..the modern “church” has elevated the so called Pastor gift and ignored basically all the others. They got it wrong. Thanks for sharing sister.

      • You are absolutely correct brother. My mistake was thinking the term “pastor” was more of a position rather than a “gift”, but the word does describe it as being a “gift” from the spirit. But yes, the man made doctrines and traditions of men, as usual, have turned the truth of what the Lord intended, topsy turvy, and in doing so have indeed brought the Lord’s ekklesia into bondage to dead religion with the clerical “hierarchy” ruling over them in a such a way as to stifle true spiritual growth.

        Eph 4:
“8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

        11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

      • The Clerical hierarchy cripples the Church and produces passive pewsitters instead of vibrant participants.

  2. Again I must apologize for the formatting of this blog post. WordPress would not publish with paragraph breaks. However, I was able to add exaggerated indentations at the beginning of each paragraph to make reading easier I hope.

Loved it!! We all need to have a Christian meeting in our home. Relaxed loving listenening sharing at least once a week. Start
slowly and build up to a comfortable meeting.
The teacher always learns the most . Time is now . What a wonderful way to honor God and Jesus. Hebrews 10:23-25 LET us hold fast the public declaration of our hope without wavering for he is faithful that promised . 24 and let us consider one another to incite to love and find works 25. not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together as some have the custom, but encouraging one another…..

    • Thank you Judy. Simple Christ centered gatherings in our homes are vital to the health of the Church.

  4. Brother, I believe changing WordPress themes would correct that problem for you. It’s very easy to do. All your posts would be brought along with the change over.
As for me, the present formatting text is rather small for these eyes to see very well. A larger text would be a blessing. Just a thought.
    God bless,
    Scarlett

Until the time there can be a regular meeting in our home, or another, I look for Jesus’ words in others…..,this encourages me that I’m still hearing from him.

    • Sue, I can confirm and testify that you are indeed hearing from Him. Christ in us is the Hope of Glory.

I second that, Sue! Sometimes even ‘regular’ can get in the way as the Lord walks us through the re-arranging and deprogramming after we come out. He often just needs to be mostly ‘uninterrupted’. Reminds me of as I was still ‘coming’ out I pastored an independent church. Freedom to speak, share, contradict, interrupt me with questions, etc. A step in the right direction. But I felt God kept resisting me and I told Him so and asked Him WHY??? His answer went something like this, “I know you are wanting to follow Me but you are still trying to bring the ‘good’ from Babylon and apply it in My Body. It’s a ‘better’ mousetrap, but still a mousetrap nonetheless. I want to take you beyond this…..”. Wow, what a worthwhile journey it has been! Love and keep on being the encourager both you and Frank are! Love, “BK”

      • Bk, thank you for sharing that golden nugget of truth from your experience.

Thank you, Bro, that encourages me too!

Scarlett, I feel your desire for TRUE fellowship. I just made a cool discovering in the book of Joshua. Remember when Joshua & Caleb brought back the report of the land, “God’s got this! We can do it!” Well, fast forward to 45 years later when the inheritance was given out in the promised land and Caleb received his personally. Hebron. It means FELLOWSHIP; UNITY! Continue in your persistent panting after Him. It pays off….in the heavenlies! Much love to you, “BK”
