“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:  Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him and receive eternal life.  Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.  Amen.”   1 Timothy 1: 15-17

I have been thinking and pondering a lot today about The Lord’s patience and the whole entire concept just totally blows me away.  His patience is completely and utterly unlimited.  With Jesus there is no such thing as three strikes and you are out.  He never tires of our foolishness or disobedience.  He is always right there waiting for us to simply turn slightly towards Him again and repent.  He desires that ALL men and women be saved, and He is more than willing to wait until that salvation happens….  No matter how long it may take.  The thought that God patiently waits on us and never waivers in His Love towards us is totally revolutionary and comes with absolutely no strings attached.

“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.  He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters.  His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other scriptures, to their own destruction.”  1 John 3: 15-16

His patience means salvation!  Do I even need to elaborate?  Jesus NEVER gives up on us.  NEVER! Whatever direction you may turn Jesus is right there waiting for you to turn back towards Him.   He is totally relentless in His pursuit of us.  How come we rarely ever hear this message coming from the “Church” or “Church” people?  They are quick to quote scriptures and point out that the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion seeking some to devour, and they try to use fear to drive people to The Lord.  Cattle may be driven, but sheep need to be led!  I simply do not believe that using fear tactics ever bears much true fruit that remains.  You can tell people all day long that they are going to hell, but that message can never be very fruitful or successful because it totally discounts His ultimate patience, grace and love to the utmost extent.

Unlimited patience?  Think on that one for awhile?  I know I am.

Amen, Christopher! How Christianity ever got the idea that God’s patience and love can be exhausted is beyond me! It’s so wonderful to rest in Him for my atheist family members and to know that we are all on His path, no matter which one it is because He is on every path no matter how far from true North it is facing.

    Thanks, brother,

    • Win, thank you for that word of confirmation and truth. We can not escape the Hound of Heaven.

So powerful! Very interesting that the same passage that talks about the Lord’s patience meaning salvation also mentions the fact that people have distorted things that Paul wrote. Seems as though the confusion (and/or intentional misinterpretation) regarding the unlimited patience of the Lord goes way back!

    • Great observation Chad. It sure seems to point in that direction. Thanks for sharing!

It’s interesting that we the movie Risen tonight, and over and over we were reminded of how patient and extensive Love Of Christ is! His love reaches to every nook and cranny of this world and every nook and cranny of every man and woman’s heart. He loves us all so much!

    • Yes Ramma, Christ’s love and patience is NEVER ENDING and ever reaching out for us no matter our circumstance or situation. Christ is for us and nothing can stand against us because of that.
