The Spirit Has Written On Our Hearts

February 2, 2016

Greetings,

“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody.  You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts……….He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant – not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”  2nd Corinthians 3: 2-3, 6

This passage shows us that what really matters most in life and ministry are Spirit forged relationships.  It is all about being Spirit led and touching people’s hearts.  If we desire to give people life and well being we will do so by allowing the Holy Spirit to guide all of our interactions.

Ink and paper do not give life to anyone and that includes even the ink and paper of the bible.  Life comes only from the Spirit and the best way to communicate life is via relationships.  The bible does have a role in the life of a Christ follower, but it was never intended to be the primary source of light and life.  When we place the bible ahead of the Spirit and relationship with God and others the letter then kills instead of enhancing our life in Christ.

However, when we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth (John 16: 13) the bible then becomes perhaps the greatest resource in the life of a believer.  There is a HUGE difference between seeing scripture as THE Source and Authority in one’s life, instead of simply seeing scripture as the great gift, tool, and resource that it is.  Quoting scriptures may appeal to the intellect of others, but they in no way give life to them.

If you want to give abundant life to others then simply share your whole life with them as you are being led by the Spirit of God along the way. Touching people’s hearts while sharing the Truth in Love is what our faith is really all about.  The most important thing in life is having a relationship with Jesus, but right immediately after that is having relationships with others that are built on the Cornerstone that is Christ.  Forever remember that this is always a matter of heart and not just the head.  Heart to heart relationships are birthed via the Spirit of Christ and are maintained by deep sincere Love for one another.  May the Great Comforter write Truth and Love on our hearts today.

Love and …….

I want to be an imparter of life by the Spirit to others and not a purveyor of death via the letter…and yes through genuine and open heart to heart relationships. Another great word!

    • Yes Dan, and because of your sincere love Jesus will honor and give you this desire of your heart.

  2. Thanks again Chris, bulls eye. No Spirit no life.

Chris, if the Christian community would accept what Jesus told us all, that the Kingdom of God is within us, then the Life flow of His Spirit is continual until we hinder it or block it out somehow. We manifest that which we believe abides in us.

    • Very true Dave. It is very sad that so many choose to hinder, block or limit the supernatural flow of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The religious system with its hierarchies and human rules is the complete opposite of true LIFE.
