Wanted Dead And Alive?

November 11, 2014

“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.  Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.  For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.”  Romans 6: 11-14

Grace empowers and motivates us to make better choices in life.  Our day to day choices are what make up the fabric of our very lives.  Every day we have the option of being dead to sin or allowing sin to control our lives.  When we choose to reckon ourselves dead to sin…that is when we are most alive in Christ.  As we become more mature in our faith making the right choices should get easier, but sometimes we all still get greatly tempted to enter into sin.  Even a mature Jesus was tempted by satan.  So never make the mistake of thinking you are somehow beyond being tempted.

If we truly walk in the grace of the Lord sin will not be our master.  This is accomplished by continually being led by the Spirit and not our flesh or carnal reasoning.  Some try to be bible led in their walk and many times this leads to having some sense of the Law being able to keep us from sin.  This is a HUGE mistake!  Confidence in our own knowledge, interpretation skills and understanding of what is written often leads to pride and that pride can lead to destruction.  However, if we instead live and walk in the Spirit we will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.  Sure use the bible as the Spirit leads you, but avoid using it according to your own intellect and flesh.

If the Church would only respect and recognize that we are totally under grace and not the Law anymore, She would indeed be glorious and a safe haven to all.  Mixing the Law with Grace leads to much confusion and destruction in the lives of those seeking justification via the written code.  Trying to live under any component of the Law denies Jesus and the work He completed on the cross.  It is ONLY by grace that we have been saved. The only way to walk in such amazing grace is under the Headship of Lord Jesus via the leading of the Holy Spirit.  For any part of the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

 Love and…..

  1. Agreed 100,000% I am nothing more than just Father’s vessel to be used at Father’s call to use me. The same as a water glass is to me.
Law and grace do not mix, just like oil and water do not either. Put oil and water in a glass, let stand still, they separate. Stir it up and they appear to mix
So be still and know God is God,
    Thank you Kirk

  2. Excellent post. Fixing our eyes on Him, we press on, forgetting what lies behind. He is able to complete what He has begun in us.

The Concordant Literal inserts that important little word in Romans 7:24-25 I will include it in the King James , “What shall deliver me from the body of this death? GRACE! I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” So beautiful. Love, “BK”

  4. just had a thought, Father wants us to reckon us dead at the cross of Son. co-crucified in the flesh nature of us. To see the new life he came to give us in the resurrected Christ in spirit and truth
So wanted dead or alive might change to if see this
Wanted dead to see life in Spirit and truth, where only Father can be seen and worshiped,

John 4:23-24Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

    Just some food fro thought

  5. And in Phil 3:1,3, 10, 11 say much to me to this effect you read and see what you see, and in context please

I like this. Romans 8 says it too “for the law of the Spirit of LIFE in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death”. No longer does the law say ‘if you sin you die’ but ‘if you sin the ransom has been paid and you live because of Him’…..poor paraphrase but it’s close! 🙂 “BK”
