One More Time

January 19, 2013
“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?  Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them.  And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you?  Even ‘sinners’ do that.  And if you lend to those from whom you expect re-payment, what credit is that to you?  Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners’, expecting to be re-paid in full.  But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.  Then your reward will be great and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.  Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”               Luke 6: 32-36
These same verses are hitting me again with truth that I cannot escape.  We are all called to love and serve everyone.  To be good and kind to them, and always be merciful.  How we treat people is very important and it matters not if they are sinners, ungrateful, or even wicked.  And perhaps it is them we are called to accept and love the most.
For that to happen we need to be in the world where they live and not hiding out in some “church” building.  Many “Christians” today are all about escaping the world and staying away from sinners.  They treat their “church buildings” like they are some kind of fortress that keeps the world out and sinners far away.
Jesus ate and hung out with sinners all the time.  So why shouldn’t we?  Instead of avoiding those who need Jesus..we should be in contact with them all the time.  We need to be in the world, but not of it.  Because in Jesus we have nothing to fear.  “It is not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick.”  A healthy church is one who sends out people to meet the needs of those who need help the most.  Staying in the sanctuary does not help anyone.
The healthiest churches are the ones who stress the fact that EVERYONE is a missionary.  Missions are not just about reaching third world countries; true missions are about reaching your neighbors first and then spreading out to the rest of the world.  ANYONE can be a missionary.  The only equipping and training you really need comes directly from the Holy Spirit.  If you have accepted Christ as your Lord you already are a missionary and there are people in your life right now that need God’s help as it flows through your life.  Don’t worry about being qualified or called.  The fact is that Jesus makes you qualified and you are already called.
What are we waiting for?  You know the truth in love…so just walk in it!  In Christ you are already capable of bearing good fruit.  Just spread out your branches and allow people to start eating now.  Stop waiting for someone special to do it for you or give you permission.  In Jesus you are that special person.  So please step up and go for it now!
Love and…

  1. We are the light of the world. We don’t add much light to a building already full of light(s) – but a single candle, lightbulb or flashlight goes a looking way in brightening up the darkness. If we avoid the darkness, we are forsaking our calling as light in the world.

My experience of those who follow an ancient script, such as the bible, is exactly the opposite than being the light of the world. They are closed minded , restrictive, and arrogant. Their claims that they have the right religion/god allow hem to be dismissive of anyone who doesn’t follow their script. Their walk with the spirit ( the source) is shallow, and narcissistic. They enjoy the stage when they can perform good works for all to see, but, in the shadows, are selfish, and self serving.

I have spent 30 years of my life attempting to follow these scripts too, and found them to be wanting, extremely interpretive, and lifeless. I’m only speaking from what I see, and do not discount those who have had other experiences.

Jesus preached compassion, a life fully lived, empathy, service to others, and wanted all of us, not just those who professed his name, everyone – his brothers and sisters- do to the same. He didn’t setup a HC, or a IC, or religon of any kind.

  3. Martin, what you seem to describe is the difference between knowing and serving Jesus The Living Word and the dead letter Law that brings death. Sadly most serve a mixture of both. I love you Martin even though we disagree.

Very few , even in the HC circles, can cross over the line serving the script to serving the spirit. Very few. Most use the bible as Harry poter does his magic book of spells.

  5. Martin, if they are “closed minded, restrictive, and arrogant,” then they aren’t following the Bible. I don’t know what they’re following, could be their traditions, could be their own mind, could be some “spirit” they think is good… but if they are shallow and narcissistic then it isn’t the ancient Scripts. Speaking of following your own mind, you seem to be doing that, Martin, and you seem to me to be “closed minded, restrictive, and arrogant.” I don’t think that’s coincidence.

Nope, Malkiyahu, whoever u are, it’s quite the oposite. I’ve found so much fredom in the last some months. It’s sounds arrogant to somehow make up your mind about someone from a paragraph , or two, you’ve read of their works. However, I certainly don’t know what you are like, and would never assume on a personal level to assume you are arrogant, or not.

    • I assume nothing, I simply shared how you seem. If you don’t like being judged based on your words, you shouldn’t put them out there. I wasn’t doubting that those kinds of people exist, just pointing out that that attitude is the product of people following their own minds or some other spirit, never a product of following the ancient Scripts.
