Special Guest Blogger

Greetings from sunny Florida everyone,
The following is a special guest blog from my friend Marc Winter who is from Chattanooga TN.  His new book “Was Church God’s Idea” is an excellent read and details where the modern “church” has gotten way off of the path that Jesus intended.  I hope you enjoy his radical musings just as much as I do.

Lack of Revelation and the Lost Power Connection
The Good News of the arrival of the spiritual kingdom of God was Jesus’ message, and then the Disciples’ message after Him.
After Jesus’ Resurrection He spoke with His followers for 40 days about the kingdom of God. Even though Jesus spoke at length about the arrival of a spiritual kingdom throughout His earthly ministry, His followers still did not understand. Later the revelation came, as they were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. It was as if the power cord was connected in direct connection to the Lord, now residing in Heaven.
It has occurred to me that today, as His followers, we still struggle with this important understanding. The Gospel of the kingdom, is a power-filled revelation. Jesus, answering His disciples’ question about the use of parables said, “It is not given to them (curious masses) to know the secrets of the kingdom of God but it is given to you (disciples).” This message is still only understood by revelation in the power of the Holy Spirit. This transformational Gospel of the kingdom, when understood, still transforms lives powerfully today.
Just as the Lord was excited when Peter received the revelation, exclaiming, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” The Lord is excited for us today to receive revelation knowledge. The most endearing thing in my relationship with the Lord is the intimacy. When He reveals secrets, or He explains why things are the way they are, it endears me to Him even more. The only two barriers I have ever identified to connecting with the Lord intimately is, 1) a lack of desire (He will not force Himself upon us)and, 2) relating to another in the place of Christ. In our hearts we know, if we really want to know the Lord intimately, but almost no one understands that many times we have given Christ’s spiritual headship/authority to another. This happens most often in church settings. Pastors, priest or elders present themselves as spiritual authorities in our lives. If we come to accept this situation, it puts us in an adulterous relationship with those usurping Christ’s place. This entire situation has been derived from the institutional and hierarchical church traditions. This is one reason true seekers, upon leaving those institutions, begin to discover a deeper relationship and intimacy with the Lord.
For the joy of knowing the Lord intimately, and hearing His voice, we allow no human to take His rightful place.

  1. I agree Marc, Everyone CAN and should hear God’s voice on their own and not through ANY human mediator. It is an extremely easy concept, but vastly misunderstood, His sheep hear HIS voice and obey, other voices are a distraction at best and hell at worst. Thanks for sharing here Marc!

Good stuff! I still remember when the Lord spoke to me about when Jesus told Peter “on this rock I will build my church….”. As I saw it that day was like this. Jesus asked who they thought He was; Peter said the Christ and Jesus said, “…Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
The unshakeable rock the believer is built on is PERSONAL REVELATION. Jesus, Himself, was the ‘flesh & blood’ Peter was listening to those days. So Jesus in effect said, “Hey, Peter, that’s great! You didn’t get this from My great teaching, but by personal revelation from the Father! This is what I’m going to build My church on and people won’t be shaken when they’ve received it for themselves from the Spirit!” Just my thoughts, and amen, to Marc’s portion. “BK”
