Greetings from home,

Jesus answered,

“I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.  Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to Spirit.  You should not be surprised at my saying  ‘You must be born again.’  The Wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.  So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”   John 3: 5-8

Today I took my son, Caleb, to see “The Dark Knight Rises”.  In all aspects the movie was very well done, but one thing stood out to me.  Near the end of the movie one character used this phrase..”Structure means shackles.”  I have never heard a statement ring more true.  Especially when it comes to the Church and the things of God.

Jesus said “The wind blows wherever it pleases” when speaking of The Holy Spirit.  The Spirit is not to be defined, confined, neat and structured.  However, in the modern “church” that is exactly what “man” has tried to do to The Spirit.  In wanting structure, control and form “man” has attempted to limit The Spirit’s influence.

These days the bible has been turned into a rule book and doctrine has become more important than relationship and the Spirit’s leading.  I know I offend many when I say we should be Spirit and NOT bible led, but that is the message God has laid upon my heart and I will not recant unless HE demands it.

Sure God is an orderly God, but that does not mean that man-made structure is acceptable in the church.  Man’s structure supports a human hierarchy in the church and wants everything to be clearly defined and regulated by the bible.   This system of control leads to MANipulation and abuse in many cases.  Jesus came to set us all free, but “man” uses structure to put us back in shackles and bondage to the Law.

The Wind can never be controlled, tamed, neat and structured; and neither should we.  We need to allow The Spirit to flow through us in any way that The Lord desires.  There should never be a hierarchy or man made pecking order in the church.  “Man” tries to limit our freedom in Christ with many rules and boundaries, but The Spirit wants us to explode past our limitations into total freedom in Him.  It is time to break free from the shackles of “man” and instead explore our total freedom in The Spirit.

Love and…..
