“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.  Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel…”  Philippians 1: 27

On Saturday I was both humbled and honored to have been able to participate in some of the most wonderful fellowship I have ever witnessed.  There were eight of us sitting out in the desert baring our hearts to The Lord and one another for eight consecutive hours.  HIS love and truth was flowing through each one of us as we took turns sharing what The Lord had laid on our hearts that day.

There was no designated Leader among us.  Instead of looking to a mere man or woman to lead us, we all yielded to The Holy Spirit’s leading and it was wonderful.  Not a single person dominated over our time together.  We all shared our portion in turns and I don’t recall any of us interupting who was speaking at any given time.  The Holy Spirit had us defer to one another and wait for the appropriate time for each of us to share.

It really was as if we were one person contending for the faith of the gospel.  Each member of that gathered body shared its portion of the truth in love in turn and our revelations were dove tailing with each other and glorifying our Lord and edifying the body in ways I have seldom seen from such a diverse group.  Among us it was abundantly clear that Jesus was The Head and each one of us was under Him and only Him.  There was no contention within the body that day and we were able to love Him and each other in ways seldom seen in this day and age.

And guess what?  It almost didn’t happen.  Seven years ago four of the people gathered had a major dispute about theology and doctrine.  However, people grow and change and when given the opportunity sometimes they even reconcile.  At least they do when one places the importance of fellowship over and above doctrine and theology.  And that is exactly what happened with followers of Jesus from Washington, Idaho and Michigan in the desert last Saturday.  I praise Jesus for that!

Love and …..

  1. Thanks, Chris. We were sure glad you were there with us. It would not have been complete without you.

  2. That sounds wonderful! Amazing how time slips into eternity time or rather timelessness, when those things happen.

It was excellent, Chris. And it meant ALOT that you put out the expense and effort to come and be with us out here! Michael, so wonderful to hug yours & George’s necks again. Humbled and honored….yes, that describes it. “BK”
